Happy Saturday! We are nearing the end of August and it is hard to believe that September will begin in a few short days! The year appears to be flying by so quickly! The mornings seem to stay darker longer. This is the beginning of a three day weekend in the United States! Labor Day weekend is observed the first weekend in September and celebrates the social and economic achievements of the American labor force. For many Labor Day Weekend also is the last holiday of summertime. The weather will begin to get cooler as the fall season breezes in!
This weekend for me is sewing weekend! My Quilters ADHD allows me to have a variety of projects in different stages that need to be finished! My goal for the next several days is to work on the projects scattered on my cutting boards and get them closer to completion!
The first project is way overdue. The fabric is all cut and some of the blocks are near completion. I am working on a tutorial that uses Colony Solids by Windham Fabrics and the text prints from the Collage line by Such Designs from Windham Fabrics. Originally I made the quilt top with a solid off white fabric and was unhappy with how it looked. I got out my scissor and seam ripper and cut the quilt apart to be able to start over! The sewn blocks are what I saved from the quilt top. The rest of the background fabric went into the garbage! My next project to complete is sewing the binding on a few mug rugs. One of the mug rugs will be used for the Mug Rug Revival Swap on Flickr. I just have to decide which mug rug to send my secret partner!
Strips are cut for my Sew Sew Modern Round Three swap project on Flickr. I will be making fabric baskets with Denyse Schmidt's Chicopee Fabric line for my secret partner! Solid fabrics and some linen will be added to this fabric pull to complete the project!
The brights and black strips will be used for a row in my Strip Quilters Bee on Flickr. I am making a row of Confetti blocks for Shelley in the our group. The other rows that have been completed utilize a black background and very vivid bright colors in the blocks. One block is complete, four more left to go!
There are also a stack of Bee Blocks to finish for a few of the other Bees that I participate in on Flickr! All in all it will be a very busy weekend! Somewhere in there I hope to squeeze in cleaning, cooking, grocery shopping, the Post Office and laundry! BE SURE TO SCROLL DOWN AND ENTER MY CURRENT GIVEAWAY!! What are you doing this weekend? Whatever you decide to do, I hope that you find some time to sew! Have a very Happy Saturday and Happy Quilting!
