Happy Sunday! I hope that your weekend is going along well! This morning my son and I got up early, went to the laundromat, the grocery store and then came home to cook a family breakfast. We were joined by my older son which was really nice!
There was a little bit of sewing time last night and a few hours this afternoon. I started working on another row for Strip Quilters for Shelly's Quilt. In my mind I settled on doing a row of confetti blocks for her and finished only one block. Once the row is complete, I will post a picture of it. The pictures to follow are for the Quilt Around the World II Bee on Flickr. The group consists of twenty five women who each make one block for each other.
The block below is for Jo Jo. She requested a blue block. I made her a Wonky Log Cabin Block with many different prints and solids. Monochromatic blocks are very fun to make because there are so many shades within one color range! The second block is for Ursi. Ursi wanted a neutral block with a pop of color! She said to make a block that was reflective of who we are. I love improv piecing, so that is what I made for her. While sewing this block I remembered my online friend Yolanda who passed away from Biliary Cancer last year. We had been in an improv bee together called Design Camp. When it was Yolanda's month she had wanted improv log cabin blocks and the fabrics used were very similar to this. Yolanda would have loved this block. The fabrics are mainly linens and a neutral range of free pieced fabrics. It's interesting how a grouping of fabrics would remind me of Yolanda...
Time to run for now! We are having Ham and veggies for dinner. Tonight will be time for some additional cleaning and preparing for another work day tomorrow. I hope that you have a really good week! Have a Happy Sunday and Happy Quilting!
